Democracy – a Shit Management System
Theoretically, Aristotle underlined the principle of democracy that the citizens could have a share in freedom. Some say democracy is a form of government, in which the supreme power is held completely by the people under a free electoral system. Officially, Thailand has announced its political system of constitutional monarchy, in which government is elected. In this system, election is the key source of power. Do we live in a democratic country? This simple-word question may seem senseless but it is related to the heart of the way we are now on this particular land, Thais’ land.
In my own words, I would compare the system as a shit management. Like being in a 20 family village, each family has a hog farm. Every farm creates hog shit and whole shit needs to be managed. Therefore the village needs a manager. The 20 families drew up a charter or so called a constitution posted as the highest law of the land. Complied with this supreme law, citizens come to elect the manager. Systematically, the one who gains the major support, thence, becomes the village manager, as in the same way, the manager of the whole hog farms. Since hog farms make an enormous amount of shit, which can be piled up as high as no one could have seen, this shit business belongs to the manager. If the manager managed only shit of the majority, who elected him (or her, if you’re a feminist), he would become a shit caesar. And if the majority enjoyed his management and grouped up in order to gain more benefit without caring the minority, they would become nothing but a band of gangsters.
Looking back to the village, my hog shit village, obviously the shit business has done by the gang mostly, claiming the right of using power. Some of the minority including I, have tried to ignore it. In particular, what I have done is to dig my own shit hole and enjoy the shit as if I were not this village citizen. Some don’t, of course, they come out and remind the manager that he is in his office by the rule to manage the whole shit pile of the whole village, not to enjoy only his shit and shit of the others who elected him. From there, shit is all over the place, at the manager’s office, the gang’s office and unavoidably on the streets and schools. Some protesters obviously bullshit trying to have more support to fight the manager. Recently, somewhere in the middle of the rally, shit blew up (high) surprisingly together with flesh and blood as well as fingers as some confirmed.
Shit happens!
The hog farm village needs a manager. The manager is elected by the book. The manager comes to work for the whole, not for a faction. Either with love or hate to the manager, citizens are citizens. This shit would never happen if only all citizens including ones, who want to be the manager, tried a bit harder to understand that democracy is a system for the whole, not for the majority, minority nor the ignored. If they can not understand, therefore, let’s enjoy the shit hole, and together say “holy shit”.
